Swim Lessons

The Joe Wilson Pool offers swim lessons to participants of all ages!

New Competitive Swim Clinics starting in April 2026!

Participants will learn butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle drills geared toward creating an efficient, fluent stroke as well as perfect their turns, streamlines, and starts.

Lifeguard Certification Courses

Becoming a lifeguard requires lots of hard work and the desire to help save lives. Each student is required to pass prerequisite swim skill assessments before permitted to continue in the course; knowing how to swim is required to be successful. Once permitted to continue with the course students will work towards CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Lifeguard certification.

FREE Lifeguard Instructor Certification Class

At these workshops you will learn what it takes to be a lifeguard in and out of the water, learn how to nail your interview, and be able to apply for our open positions on site! These workshops allow the opportunity to practice the prerequisite skills need for the lifeguard certification class.

Cardboard Boat Float

Saturday, April 18, 2026 (revised date)  |  12:30pm - 3:30pm

Gather your team and take on the challenge of building a boat using only cardboard and duct tape! Teams must have 2-6 members, with at least one person riding and propelling their team’s boat during the race. Boats must be planned and constructed before race day and propelled by team members inside. Prixes will be awarded for creativity and of course, speed!

 

What to expect for your day at the Joe Wilson Pool

General Facility Rules

  • Children under the age of 7 must be accompanied by a responsible, actively supervising individual who is 14 years old or older.
  • Supervising individuals are required to supervise their children.
  • Food and drink are allowed in the designated areas only.
  • The following are prohibited:
    • Glass containers of any kind
    • Alcohol
    • Smoking or Vaping
    • Running and horseplay in pool, bathrooms, and splash pad
    • Climbing on fence, structures, or other apparatuses in the facility
    • Bicycles
    • Gum
  • Animals are not allowed in the complex, except for service animals. Service animals are not permitted in the water.
  • Inappropriate language or behavior of any kind will not be tolerated. Disrespect to guests or lifeguards maybe cause for disciplinary action.
  • Excessive entering and exiting of the complex or restrooms will not be tolerated.
  • Staff reserves the right to discontinue any other actions considered unsafe or non-beneficial to pool guests.
  • No guests shall enter the facility unless a qualified lifeguard is present and on surveillance duty.

Pool Rules

  • No persons with bandages, open sores, or skin rashes are allowed on the deck area or in the pool.
  • Only attire designed for water activity is allowed (swim/boardshorts, swimsuits, and rash guards)
  • Swim diapers are required to be worn underneath swimsuits for all incontinent individuals and those who are not toilet trained. Non swim diapers, which include paper and cloth diapers are not allowed in the pool.
  • All guests under the age of 18 must pass a swim test in order to use the diving board and swim in the deep end of the pool. Completion of the swim test is at the lifeguard’s discretion.
  • Ladders are to be used for entering and exiting pool.
  • Only US Coast Guard Approved personal flotation devices are allowed. No inflatables or swimsuits with floaties.
  • The following are prohibited:
    • Calls for help when not in distress.
    • Throwing objects
    • Hanging on ropes, buoy lines, or lane lines
    • Horseplay, hitting, biting, spitting, urinating, climbing or sitting on another’s shoulders or body
    • Feet hanging on deck or in gutters
    • Flips, cannonballs, twists, jumping backwards, or can openers off the side of the pool
    • Toys, goggles or face masks that cover the nose
    • Diving in the shallow water
    • Hanging or playing on the dive blocks or ladders
  • Pool staff reserves the right to discontinue any other actions considered unsafe or non-beneficial to pool guests.

Diving Board Rules

  • Open swimming in the diving area is prohibited, unless diving boards are closed.
  • All divers must pass the swim test before going off the diving board.
  • Jump or dive straight off the board with one bounce before jumping off
  • The following is prohibited:
    • Personal flotation devices
    • Horseplay on, or around, the diving boards
    • Running dives, sitting dives, back dives, inward dives (towards the board), reverse dives, hanging on the board, and gymnastics such as handstands or cartwheels.
  • Only one person on the board at one time. The next person in line must wait with both feet on the deck.
  • Once a dive is performed, the diver must exit the pool by the nearest ladder or wall.
  • Pool staff reserves the right to discontinue any other actions considered unsafe or non-beneficial to pool guests.

Splash Pad Rules

  • No running or horseplay in or around the pool and splash pad.
  • No food or drinks in the pool or splash pad
  • No glass containers or alcoholic drinks
  • Caution: Water is recirculated. Do not drink!
