The City of Tracy uses a Council-Manager form of government. The City Council hires the City Manager, who is responsible for running the City’s daily operations.
The City Council sets the City’s goals and priorities through public votes. The City Manager works to carry out those goals by leading City departments and making sure services are delivered effectively.
The City Manager also prepares and manages the City’s annual budget, shares updates and recommendations with the City Council, responds to questions from the Council and the community, oversees City staff, and helps keep residents informed about City services.
The City Manager’s Office provides leadership and oversight of City programs based on the direction of the Tracy City Council. Together, the City Council and City staff focus on these key strategic priorities and goals:
