Nomination for Elective Office
Candidates may be nominated for any of the elective offices of the City during the nomination period.
The nomination period for the elective offices of the City begins on Monday, July 13, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. and closes on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. On July 24, 2026, City Hall and the City Clerk’s Office will be closed due to the building’s regular business schedule. Although City Hall will be closed on August 7, 2026, the City Clerk’s Office will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to complete the nomination period.
During the nomination period, the City Clerk shall issue and accept nomination documents during regular business hours, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. every other Friday, beginning on Monday, July 13, 2026, at the City Clerk’s Office, 333 Civic Center Plaza, Second Floor, Tracy, California 95376. The City Clerk’s Office will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on August 7, 2026, to complete the nomination period. Filing papers may be obtained by appointment only. If nomination papers for an incumbent Officer of the City are not filed by Friday, August 7, 2026, at 5:00 p.m., the nomination period shall be extended to Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. to nominate candidates other than the persons who are the incumbents for that incumbent’s elective office.
There is $25 filing fee for a candidate for municipal office in the City of Tracy. There is an additional fee to pay if you choose to file a candidate statement. However, this fee is determined by the Registrar of Voters' Office, not the City, and the amount varies with each election.
You may withdraw your candidacy any time prior to the close of the nomination period. If you choose to withdraw after that date, your name will appear on the ballot.
