Residential Utility Rates

Water, Sewer and Storm Drain

Each month water charges are calculated based on a flat rate water meter fee plus the actual water consumption fee. The meter fee charge depends on the meter size. Water consumption charges are based on a meter reading and user class. See rates below.

For first or final bills, the meter, sewer and storm drain fees are calculated pro-rata based on the number of days in the water reading cycle.

Garbage, Recycling and Yard Waste

Garbage fees are based on a once-a-week pick up and billed a flat monthly rate depending on the size of garbage bin selected. A set of organic and recycle bins is also included in the garbage service free of charge. Extra bins may be requested for an additional charge. See applicable rates below. For first or final bills, the garbage fees are calculated pro-rata based on the number of days in the billing cycle.

The City of Tracy offers an annual clean-up program which allows each residential property to have one free scheduled pickup per calendar year. Alternatively, account holders may order a temporary use dumpster for a fee by calling Tracy Disposal directly at (209) 835-0601. Please note that the account of the customer must be current (i.e., no past due amounts) to order the annual clean-up or a temporary dumpster.

Commercial sewer charges are calculated based on a flat rate fee (depending on what class or type of business) times the number of units of water consumption. It is subject to a minimum amount of $30.48. For first or final bills, the meter, sewer and storm drain fees are calculated pro-rata based on the number of days in the water reading cycle.

Storm Drain

Each developed parcel of land within the city shall be charged a storm drain maintenance fee based upon the impervious area of the developed parcel. The Equivalent Consumer Unit is the basic unit for computation. One (1) ECU = 3,140 square feet. Each ECU will be billed at $1.20 and included on your City of Tracy utility bill, if applicable.

Containers will be repaired or replaced at no additional cost provided that the damage was not due to customer misuse or negligence. Lost or stolen containers will also be replaced at no cost.

Commercial and Multi-Family Recycling

Under California law (SB 1383), all customers are required to participate in garbage, recycling, and organic waste (green waste/food waste) collection services.

This law is designed to reduce landfill waste and greenhouse gas emissions by ensuring recyclable and organic materials are properly separated and diverted from landfills. Compliance is mandatory for all customers.

Excess Weight: Loads must not exceed the maximum legal weight limit of 10 tons. Customer will be responsible for offloading containers in excess of 10 tons. Additionally, the customer will be charged a Stand by fee of $191.79 per hour after 15 minutes or an additional trip fee of $283.96.

Contamination (Recycling): Loads with contamination levels exceeding 10% by weight or volume will be charged as MSW (waste).
