TRACY, Calif. (July 13, 2026) — The City of Tracy welcomes the inclusion of funding in the State of California's 2026–27 budget to advance the New Tracy Courthouse project, an important step toward restoring local court services for Tracy and South San Joaquin County residents.
The state budget includes $3.503 million in General Fund support for the project's Performance Criteria phase, with a total project authorization of $65.854 million. The funding supports the next phase of a state-led courthouse project that will ultimately provide a new two-courtroom courthouse in Tracy.
Although the courthouse project is managed by the Judicial Council of California, the City of Tracy has long supported efforts to restore local court services after the closure of the previous courthouse more than 15 years ago. Once completed, the new facility will improve access to justice by allowing many residents to receive court services closer to home.
"The New Tracy Courthouse project is exciting news for Tracy and the residents of South San Joaquin County," said Mayor Dan Arriola, "Having a courthouse in our community again will make it easier for residents to access essential legal services without having to travel outside the city. We appreciate Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom's leadership in securing this funding, and the continued commitment of the Judicial Council of California and the San Joaquin County Superior Court in supporting our city to move this important project forward."
The City appreciates the advocacy of Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom, who worked with the Judicial Council of California, the San Joaquin County Superior Court, and local partners to secure funding for the project. The City has joined regional partners in supporting the effort because of the important role a local courthouse plays in serving residents and strengthening access to public services.
As this state project progresses through planning and design, the City of Tracy looks forward to continuing to partner with the appropriate agencies to support the successful delivery of the new courthouse for the community.
