The City of Tracy is currently in Stage III Water Conservation Measures, which include mandatory requirements and restrictions for all water users.

For full details, you can view the Water Conservation and Efficiency Ordinance in the Tracy Municipal Code, Section 11.28.

The following rules are now in effect:

Outdoor Irrigation Schedule

All landscapes—including residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, municipal, and other public properties—may irrigate up to three (3) days per week based on the following schedule:

  • Odd-numbered addresses (ending in 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9):
Allowed to irrigate only on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday
    Before 9:00 a.m. or after 7:00 p.m.
  • Even-numbered addresses (ending in 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8):
Allowed to irrigate only on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday
    Before 9:00 a.m. or after 7:00 p.m.
  • Drip, micro-spray, or bubbler irrigation systems may be used at any time.

Basic Water Conservation Requirements

Please follow these key guidelines to help conserve water:

  • Avoid water waste: Do not allow excessive water use or runoff from your property when using potable water for irrigation.
  • Fix leaks promptly: All identified irrigation system leaks must be repaired within 72 hours of discovery or notification.
  • Use hose nozzles: All hoses must have a nozzle with an on/off switch to prevent unnecessary water use.
  • Limit hardscape washing: Using potable water to wash driveways, patios, sidewalks, buildings, benches, or similar surfaces is not allowed, unless required for health or safety reasons. This restriction also applies to pressure washing, except when preparing a surface for painting, masonry, or similar work.
  • Car washing: You may wash your own vehicle at home but only using a bucket.
