Dotty Nygard is a healthcare professional, environmental advocate, and community leader with over 35 years of experience as an Emergency Room Nurse. Throughout her career, Dotty has worked to improve patient care, advocating for safer staffing levels at Sutter Hospital, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. She has also organized health fairs to increase access to vital healthcare resources in Tracy.

In 2017, Dotty founded the Tracy Earth Project, an environmental nonprofit where she has led efforts to promote sustainability, reduce air pollution, and expand the city’s tree canopy. She played a key role in establishing the city’s Sustainability Commission and recently helped launch a Green Business Directory in partnership with the Tracy Chamber of Commerce. Dotty was honored with the Key to the City in 2024 for her contributions to environmental and community well-being.

Dotty is also committed to youth development through the Tracy Bike Life Youth Program, which teaches local kids how to repair bikes and develop valuable skills. She works with schools to engage students in environmental initiatives and supports projects that provide educational and recreational opportunities for Tracy’s youth.

As a member of the Tracy City Council, Dotty is dedicated to bringing the same care, leadership, and service to the community that she has demonstrated throughout her career.
