Mayor-HeadshotDan Arriola was elected as Mayor of Tracy in 2024. He was first elected to office as a Tracy School Board Member in 2016, then elected to the Tracy City Council in 2018, and re-elected in 2022. He also works as a Deputy District Attorney for San Joaquin County. Mayor Arriola is the youngest elected Mayor in the history of the City of Tracy, as well as the first Latino Mayor of the city, and the first openly LGBTQ Mayor in all of San Joaquin County.

Mayor Arriola was raised in the City of Tracy, and he is a proud graduate of West High School (Class of 2007). He graduated as the Political Science Valedictorian of UCLA in 2011 and as the Student Body President of USC Law School in 2014.

Arriola is very active in the community and has served on a number of boards and commissions. He founded the Young Professionals of Tracy, and has also served on the Board of Directors for Equality California, the League of California Cities, the Tracy Chamber of Commerce, the Tracy Youth Advisory Commission, and the One.TLC School for Homeless Children. He often collaborates with organizations throughout the community including the Tracy High Bulldog Project, the Kimball High Jaguar Project, and West High Leadership.

Arriola was first elected to office as a Tracy School Board Member in 2016, where he advocated for youth in the community, including organizing the first-ever student town hall in the city. As a Trustee, he advocated for issues including student engagement, school safety, diversity and equity rights, the reformation of student disciplinary action, and reducing expulsion rates for at-risk youth.

Mayor Arriola also served as the first-ever community prosecutor in San Joaquin County. As the “Neighborhood District Attorney,” Arriola implemented innovative strategies to address community concerns including homelessness, human trafficking, neighborhood nuisances, school truancy, and other quality-of-life issues.

On the Tracy City Council, Arriola has championed various policy initiatives including: establishing the Homelessness Strategic Plan and constructing the first-ever Tracy Emergency Homeless Shelter; officially recognizing LGBTQ Pride Month and raising the Pride Flag for the first-time ever; balancing the city budget for the first time in nearly a decade; legalizing commercial cannabis; approving the first affordable housing development in over 20 years; supporting the future ValleyLink light rail system to connect to BART; passing a code of ethics for local elected officials; joining EBCE to procure city-wide green renewable energy; introducing the “Tracy Equity & Empowerment Initiative” to address social equity and justice reform; passing Measure B which lowered taxes on 75% of local Tracy businesses; and authoring the “Tracy Youth Activities Initiative” to prioritize new amenities and activities for local youth.

Mayor Arriola has also received national recognition winning the "Centennial Under 40 Impact Award" by the National League of Cities; appearing on the "40 Best LGBTQ Lawyers Under 40" List by the National LGBTQ Bar Association; and on the "35 Under 35" Young Elected Officials List by People for the American Way.
