DIA DE LOS MUERTOS FAMILY DAY AT THE GRAND

A free and family-friendly, cultural celebration on Saturday, October 25th!

Tracy, Calif. – The Grand Theatre Center for the Arts presents the annual Día de Los Muertos Family Day on Saturday, October 25 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. There will be hands-on activities for children, photo opportunities, vendors in the lobby mercado, and more!  A special event of the Arts Education Program, Día de Los Muertos Family Day is free, family-friendly, and open to the public.

The public is invited to contribute to a Community Altar, on display in the Pombo Lobby on the 2nd floor through Monday, November 3.  Participants may deliver or send images of loved ones to celebrate and honor.  Photos can be dropped off at the Arts Education Office at the Grand, or emailed to:  boxoffice@cityoftracy.org

A Community Art Show will also be on display beginning October 25 through November 3, on the 2nd floor.  Participants of all ages are welcome to submit family-friendly, Día de Los Muertos-themed art in any media suitable for wall display.  Artwork must be self-hanging, framed, or on stretched canvas, with hardware.  Submissions are due by Friday, October 24, to be dropped off at the Arts Education Program office on the 2nd floor of the Grand.  Online registration for submittal can be found at www.TracyArtsandRec.com using activity number 29432.

A special, free movie screening will be featured during the event with two beloved films. Coco will be shown at 10:30 am, followed by Encanto Sing-Along at 12:30 pm. Both movies are rated PG and are free to attend. These screenings are also Sensory Friendly, with lower volume, dimmed lights, and flexibility for movement, entry, and exit. Sensory items will also be available upon request, ensuring a comfortable and welcoming experience for all attendees.

New 2025 limited edition Día de Los Muertos t-shirts and bags are available for purchase in the Grand Galleries! This unique merchandise features original calavera artwork designed by local artist Paco Garcia. Buy yours in the Grand Galleries during the event!

The Día de Los Muertos Family Day at the Grand will feature a selection of food vendors, including The Churro Spot and Los Primos Tex Mex Food, offering delicious food to complement the day’s celebrations.

This event is held in conjunction with the Downtown Tracy Artwalk, a free, self-guided public event that showcases local artists and community organizations at/around the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts.

About the Arts Education Program and the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts

The Grand Theatre Center for the Arts is a unique, interdisciplinary arts center offering professional and community-based fine arts programming through arts education, exhibitions, and performances of all kinds.  The Grand, owned and operated by the City of Tracy, hosts over 50,000 visitors per year, and is currently presenting the 19th Season of programming since opening in 2007.  The Grand Foundation is a private 501(c)(3) fundraising and community partner of the facility.

The Arts Education Program is a unique and complex component of the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts.  This dynamic programming fosters life-long learning by offering tiered classes in Dance, Drama, Music, Literary Arts, and Visual Arts.  Students of all ages are able to participate in courses, workshops, and camps taught by accomplished instructors in our specialized facility.

The Center features nine dedicated and high-quality studio classrooms including visual arts spaces, ceramics/fused-glass lab, dance studio, multi-purpose children’s studio, and music studios.  The Arts Education Program has provided instruction and experiences to over 30,000 students. There is no other facility in our region able to offer such a valuable set of creative resources to children, teens, and adults!

Free parking is available on nearby streets and public parking lots at 6th Street.  Patron drop-off and pick-up is conveniently available at the loading zone on Central Avenue.
