Posted: Oct 7, 2020

The City of Tracy will once again be bringing together local community leaders on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. for the third in a series of Virtual Town Hall meetings to discuss race, equity, policing and our local youth. The Virtual Town Hall, titled “A Conversation on Racial Injustice, Policing and our Youth,” will provide an opportunity for Tracy residents to voice their concerns and perspectives.  This Virtual Town Hall will feature the following panelists:

  • Haifa Ahmed, Tracy Youth Activist
  • Dr. Cynthia Chess, Founder and Pastor of Mountain’s Hope Community Worship Center
  • Chrissy Martinez, Tracy Youth Activist
  • Sekou Millington, City of Tracy Chief of Police
  • Dr. Robert Pecot, Tracy Unified School District Associate Superintendent of Business Services
  • Artijane Wickliff, Youth Activist
  • Kelly Wilson, Boys and Girls Club of Tracy Chief Executive Officer
  • June Yasemsky, Retired Tracy Unified School District Educator

“During the previous Virtual Town Hall meetings, we received a lot of important feedback and perspective on youth needs in our community,” stated Tracy Police Chief Sekou Millington. “For our third Town Hall meeting, we will narrow our focus on that topic and discuss ways to support our local youth through the lens of race and equity.”

This Virtual Town Hall will be moderated by Lynda and Eric Hawkins of WorkVine209 and streamed live on WebEx, the City of Tracy Facebook page and YouTube channel, Comcast Channel 26 and AT&T U-verse Channel 99.  The public may participate in the panel discussion using WebEx at:  https://cityoftracyevents.webex.com (Event Number: 126 783 9668, Event Password: tracytownhall).

During the meeting, participants may submit questions or comments via the chat feature on WebEx. To participate anonymously, please submit your comment in WebEx by typing “Anonymous” when prompted to provide a first and last name and inserting Anonymous@example.com when prompted to provide an email address. Tracy is centered in a triangle formed by major interstates I-205 to the North, I-580 to the west and I-5 to the east. A collaboration of effort from our elected officials, employees and citizens means Tracy is a clean and safe community where opportunity, growth, and success prosper. We invite you to come for a visit, open your business, and settle down to raise a family in Tracy. Take a look “Inside the Triangle.” You’ll like our pace, and you’ll love the place!
