ARSON AND CHILD ENDANGERMENT ARREST

TRACY PD CASE 20-02711

On May 14th, at approximately 7:30 pm, Tracy Police were called to the 100 block of W. Beverly Place regarding a man attempting to set his relative’s home on fire.  When patrol units arrived, family members to include children were located outside the home, uninjured and safe. After starting the fire in one of the bedrooms, the suspect remained in the house until it was fully engulfed. He eventually tried to flee and ran out of the house into the backyard, where officers were already positioned to arrest him. After 31- year old Pedro Suarez was safely detained, the South County Fire Authority provided fire suppression. Suarez was then taken to a local hospital to be checked for smoke inhalation.  He was later booked into County Jail for 451 PC—Felony Arson and 273a(a) PC Felony Child Endangerment.  The home sustained major damage and no nearby structures were damaged.

Pedro Suarez remains in custody with bail listed at $250,000.
